Opis: This book presents philosophical issues related to the aims and methods of artificial intelligence (AI) research. Although it is introductory and assumes virtually no background knowledge of either philosophy or AI, it introduces and analyzes important foundational issues of AI. It is a text-book, but is suitable for a broad audience of readers who are interested in these foundational issues. Since most of these issues also pertain to the foundations of cognitive science, the book will be useful to readers interested in this interdisciplinary field. I will assume that the readers of this journal have general familiarity with the main topics covered in the book, including the Turing Test and John Searle's "Chinese Room Argument."
